How It Works
Hay is the foundation of a rabbit's diet and should make up 80-85% of food intake — unlimited timothy hay for adults, alfalfa hay for babies under 6 months. Pellets should be plain timothy-based with no colorful additives. Fresh vegetables (romaine lettuce, cilantro, parsley, basil) provide vitamins and enrichment. Cage size matters enormously: the House Rabbit Society recommends at least 8 sq ft of enclosure plus 24 sq ft of exercise space per rabbit. Rabbits are social animals and do best in bonded pairs. Average lifespan is 8-12 years with proper care — they are a long-term commitment.
